Introducing our Kirtan leaders for the Bhakti Basics' Spring Kirtan Fest on Saturday April 4th.

Vaishnavi Brassey

Vaishnavi first dropped into mantra through training as a Kundalini Yoga teacher in 1999 and connected deeply with the bhakti (devotional) tradition through meeting Amma in 2005. Immersing deeply in the practice for a number of years while living in a large Indian ashram, she was privileged to be one of the few Westerners to lead kirtan in the Temple. Back in the UK, she has trained with Rajeswar Bhattacharya - the foremost singer of Tagore raga - and untrained with Chloe Goodchild of The Naked Voice.

Vaishnavi holds sacred songbaths, shares kirtan and offers one-to-ones, workshops and retreats in kirtan, sacred sound and voicework. She loves collaboration and, as well as being one half of sacred mantra duo EARTH with Amy Bisazza, she regularly chants with other like-hearted bhaktas and yogis.

Tim Chalice

Tim has been playing music for over 30 years. After a spiritual awakening and some years experimenting with different kinds of voice and sound-healing, he did his first workshop with Chloe Goodchild, founder of The Naked Boice in 2005. This transformative experience crystallised in 2006 with the release of his first CD “Planting Peace”, starting regular chanting groups and a life-changing trip to India. Since then Tim has worked extensively with ChloNaked Voice Facilitator and been witness to the incredible power of the voice and chanting in particular. Tim is a regular at UK Bhakti Festivals and Yoga Gatherings, and in 2012 released a kirtan CD, “Devotional Heart”, produced by Tabla Tom. The follow up, “Give it All Away For Love” was released in 2016.

“Tim sings his devotional chants straight from the heart. His voice has a rare quality of authenticity. With him it’s all about the soul, but his music is great too, lyrical, uplifting and inspiring” – Ranchor Prime, author and publisher.
