Kirtan

Kirtan is a form of Bhakti Yoga, The Yoga of Devotion.
Its roots go back over many years to India and has the power to open the heart and to quiet the mind.
A form of call and response singing, the Kirtan Wallah, or leader, sings the mantra, and the assembled group sings it back. As you sing with each other you experience a deep connection with each other and with yourself. When the music stops, your mind is quiet.
Kirtan is not exclusive to those who follow an Eastern religion or philosophy, or to those who practice yoga. Anyone can join in and joyfully sing along, clap their hands and become a participant in this age-old spiritual practice.
You may already follow your own spiritual or religious path, or none at all, the only requirement is a willingness to join in the Kirtan.
Accompanied by the music of the Guitar, Harmonium and Shruti the singing and chanting opens the door to a connection with your higher self or source energy bringing a sense of peace, harmony and balance.
Monthly Kirtan evenings are currently held at 2 venues in the Swansea area. One in the Clydach in the Swansea Valley, and one in the UK's first Area Of Outstanding Beauty, in Gower
